Professor Mark Galeotti lived on Kutuzovsky Prospekt, one of the wide, radial roads that leads into central Moscow — and the favoured route of President Vladimir Putin’s (middle) motorcade to the Kremlin. The Russian leader has always been security conscious, but today, on the losing side of his 'special military operation' in Ukraine (left) he is more paranoid than ever. Galeotti tells Daily Mail it is impossible not to be reminded of Adolf Hitler’s (bottom right) last days, when a war he started was also going against him. The Russian president's enemies are not at the gates of Moscow as Hitler’s were in Berlin, but there are parallels in both leaders’ refusal to listen to counsel, and their insistence on micro-managing military manoeuvres despite not having the experience to do so. Putin’s defence minister Sergei Shoigu, 66, (top right) who is widely regarded as the great political survivor of Russian politics since the fall of the Soviet Union, is being seen less rarely with the president, leading to speculation that he is lined up to be the fall guy for military failures.

Elon Musk was in Sao Paulo on Friday to meet Brazil's president Jair Bolsonaro. The meeting was to discuss internet connectivity in the Amazon, and was seen as a coup for Bolsonaro ahead of the October election. Bolsonaro, who has been temporarily blocked from Twitter for spreading quack COVID 'cures', said he hoped Musk's takeover of Twitter went ahead, calling it a 'breath of hope'. The day before Musk flew to Brazil, Insider reported that his company SpaceX had paid $250,000 to settle an allegation of sexual harassment. Musk said that the story was a political hit piece, and announced he was launching a legal team to take on the cases.

Jasmine Hartin, 33, is back in custody over explosive new allegations that she ordered a hit on the Caribbean country's police commissioner. She is also accused of plotting to assassinate the magistrate overseeing her child custody battle with former partner Andrew Ashcroft. She was arrested Thursday night after Commissioner of Police Chester Williams said he learned she had hired a Belize street gang to carry out the killings. The latest shocking episode in the Hartin saga comes as she prepares to stand trial later this year over the death of Superintendent Henry Jemmott. Jemmott was mysteriously shot in the head with his own service pistol last year.

Those who worked with Peaky Blinders star Helen McCrory shrugged off the rain to turn up in their droves to celebrate her life at a 'beautiful' memorial service in St Paul's Church, London yesterday. Helena Bonham Carter, (furthest left), Ralph Fiennes, (second from left) and Keeley Hawes (third from left) were among those who packed out the venue, a year after Miss McCrory's death from breast cancer, aged 52. Her husband Damian Lewis, 51, (centre) was pictured arriving with their children, daughter Manon, 15, who delivered a reading, and son Gulliver, 14, who played the guitar. The hour-long service opened with Beethoven's Ode to Joy and was followed by a prayer and the hymn Guide me, O thou Great Redeemer. Readings included one about her 'leading men', while another was a recital of Maya Angelou's poem, Touched by an Angel. Pictured from furthest right: Benedict Cumberbatch, Natascha McElhone and Eddie Redmayne braved the rain as they celebrated Miss McCrory's incredible career with friends and family.

Camille Vasquez, 37, (left) was only handed the leading role at the last moment when Johnny Depp's (right with Vasquez) team vetoed a plan to have well-known TV 'super lawyer' Kathleen Zellner (inset) grill his ex-wife, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal. The Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 58, hired Zellner of Making a Murderer fame in February after binge-watching episodes of the hit Netflix show in which she battles to clear convicted killer Steven Avery. With her decades of success in overturning wrongful convictions, Depp felt Zellner, 64, had the gravitas and experience to pick holes in Heard's evidence. The actor's existing legal team led by experienced attorney Ben Chew cautioned against integrating Zellner into the complicated case at the eleventh hour – and the job went instead to Vasquez, an associate at Chew's high-profile law firm Brown Rudnick.

Exclusive pictures obtained by DailyMail.com show the vast scale of Jeffrey Epstein's 8,000-acre ranch at which multiple girls claim they were raped and abused by the disgraced financier. The New Mexico ranch has been on sale since last year for $27.5million and sits like a ghost town. It's in tiny Stanley, between Santa Fe and Albuquerque, and was acquired by Epstein in 1993. The main residence covers approximately 30,000 square feet with Moroccan inspired interiors. Set across three levels and with four bedrooms it includes a large indoor pool and gym, grand living room and kitchen 'exceptionally appointed for an entire cooking staff'. Just inside the main ranch entrance Ranch Central is a 'small village of residences and working buildings' where Epstein housed his staff.

Archbishop of San Francisco who banned 'devout Catholic' Nancy Pelosi from receiving communion over Roe v. Wade was once arrested for DUI In San Diego and has been accused of protecting sex abusers

Archbishop of San Francisco Salvatore Cordileone (left) has barred Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (right) from the Holy Communion after she voted to codify Roe. V Wade. Cordileone said in a statement on Friday that she will not be admitted to Holy Communion in the Archdiocese of San Francisco, and cannot present herself to receive the Eucharist, until she backs away from her support for abortion. President Joe Biden, who describes himself as a devout Catholic and regularly attends mass, has also been threatened with being barred from communion because of his pro-choice stance. Cordileone insisted that the decision was 'pastoral' and not 'political'. The Catechism of the Catholic Church calls abortion 'evil' and the teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable'. Cordileone, however, has made some morally questionable decisions himself which have sparked outrage amongst members of the Catholic faith. The minister was arrested and jailed on a drunk driving charge in August 2012 shortly after having been appointed to the role of archbishop. He later joked about the arrest. He also came under fire in 2021 when he refused to release an official list of clergy who were 'credibly' accused of child sexual abuse. He also filed a motion, along with other California bishops, asking a judge to throw out a 2019 law that allowed accusers of clergy sexual abuse to sue even if they were molested decades ago.

The influencer was  followed by Travis who flashed his inked skin in a black jacket which he wore unbuttoned, while looking effortlessly cool in a pair of sunglasses. Kim (bottom far left) showcased her eye-popping curves in a grey crop top while Kendall was seen arriving for the meal with her boyfriend Devin Booker (bottom left). Alexei Fenenko (left), an associate professor at Moscow State University's school of world politics and a research fellow at the Institute of International Security Studies, made the incredible claim yesterday during a talk show on Kremlin-controlled TV channel Russia One. 'I think the war in Ukraine... is a rehearsal for a possible larger conflict in the future. We are testing our weapons against those of NATO, we will find out how much stronger our weapons are than theirs,' the professor declared. The outlandish statement is the latest example of the Kremlin's attempts to control the narrative surrounding its invasion of Ukraine, in which Putin's forces have suffered huge losses (graphic top right, burned out Russian tank in Kharkiv bottom right) and are coming under counter-attacks along the eastern front in the Kharkiv, Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Harry was snapped stretching and squatting with his Los Padres teammates while wearing white trousers, a navy T-shirt, and a baseball cap, before changing into his green team shirt to hit the field.
